Lead Investigator of Local Wisdom
Over the last 15 years, Kate Fletcher’s original thinking and progressive outlook has infused the field of fashion, textiles and sustainability with design thinking, and come to define it. Kate is Reader in Sustainable Fashion at the Centre for Sustainable Fashion.
She is one of the founders of the ‘slow fashion’ movement and instigator of directional sustainability projects, including Local Wisdom. She is author of Sustainable Fashion and Textiles: Design Journeys (2008) and co-author with Lynda Grose of Fashion and Sustainability: Design for Change (2012).
Co Investigator
Dilys Williams is a fashion designer, collaborator and facilitator of change. Dilys established and is Director of the Centre for Sustainable Fashion, founded to provoke, challenge and question the fashion status quo through collaboration, designing transforming solutions that balance ecology, society and culture.
Dilys developed the course structure and content for the groundbreaking MA Fashion and the Environment. Her enterprise interests draws on her work with both luxury and high street brands, including ten years designing collections with Katharine Hamnett using organically produced materials and promoting awareness of issues surrounding ethical and ecological design and production methods.
Network Coordinator
Katelyn Toth-Fejel is the coordinator of the Local Wisdom Network of Partners at the Centre for Sustainable Fashion. She is a member of the design collective, Here Today Here Tomorrow with a shop and experimental work space in Dalston, London and author of articles on natural dyeing and eco literacy.
