Limits to Action
As humans we are all finite and faillible: there are limits to what we can do. In recognising the veracity of boundaries we can reflect lived experience and artfully recognise the usefulness of drivers like novelty, variety and nature that influence our lives.
Power and price
"I’m wearing black and white striped pants that I got at H&M, which is a terrible store, but they were five dollars and I’ve always wanted striped pants and I bought them. …They are kind of an experiment, I mean black and white pants striped down like Beatlejuice or like a referee… it was kind of a scary [fashion] investment …but when I saw them for five dollars, then if I never actually wore them it would be okay… For me the price of [something] is a really important thing because it takes away [the pressure of needing to wear a piece to get your money’s worth]… what if they were three hundred dollars but I didn’t have the power to wear them?"
