Connections

The link between a person and a garment can never be planned for, but has lasting impact when a garment becomes a life-long companion. It reveals the potential for change in each individual and often marks that in the associations with a piece, for single, small actions can have big effects.

Birthday collection

"This vest [waistcoat] was designed by my grandmother for her brand named Adri, and she got a lot of her fabrics from Italy and then all her production was done in her loft here in NYC on West 20th between 6th and 7th.

As a kid, we would come a lot to visit and I would see her seamstresses and patternmakers there working and everything was done there and I think it had a huge influence on me. Every year on my birthday she would let me choose something from the sample rack and this was one of my choices I think when I was, fourteen or fifteen probably. I have a whole collection of crop-tops and chunky sweaters vest type things. I think I wear something of her designs at least once a week…"
