In smaller communities people can more easily see the effects of their own actions on each other and the environment. They can also better understand the ramifications of their choices; allowing them to take responsbility for them. Expressing community through our garment choices sews the seeds of a new type of self-reliance in fashion based on connection to people and place.
Collection with memories
"Well, generally I think of my clothes as sort of a collection with memories and such and what I’m wearing now is pretty typical. It’s just a sweater but I bought it when I was living in Italy about ten years ago so my philosophy about clothing is to buy things that are hopefully locally made or have sort of interest to me at the time and then keep them for a long time. Generally the clothing that I have […] reminds me of a certain place and usually when I’m dressed I have things that I’ve collected over several years, even a decade."
