An international fashion research project exploring the 'craft of use'

Transfer of Ownership

Giving a garment to someone else is sometimes a straightforward and spontaneous act. At other times a transfer of ownership is more circuitous. Periods of overlapping ownership often intensify resource use and stud a garment’s story with memories.

Good feeling

"The shirt I got from a clothes swap that happens every quarter or so. There’s a core group of us friends… and not only do we get interesting clothes from each other, it’s really the fact that you can pass something along and it looks even better on somebody else and then you can tell somebody how amazing they look and then it just, it’s a good feeling. And so then you’ve got everybody else’s clothes and there’s a story behind it, ‘oh, this was Dara’s shirt…,’ and then you can kind of talk about the person that you’re wearing and think about them when you’re wearing their object."
