An international fashion research project exploring the 'craft of use'

Transfer of Ownership

Giving a garment to someone else is sometimes a straightforward and spontaneous act. At other times a transfer of ownership is more circuitous. Periods of overlapping ownership often intensify resource use and stud a garment’s story with memories.

The Dad's pyjamas

“These are my Dad’s pyjamas which I wear. Not together! I would wear the top or the bottom with heels maybe. I just I love the pattern; I think it’s really bright. And he never wears them and they’re so lovely. He obviously thinks I’m bats. Yeah, I wear a lot of my Dad’s clothes. He was a bit of a wild child when he was younger so he has a lot of cool rocker t-shirts. I actually think I wear my Dad’s clothes more than I wear my mum’s clothes.”
