An international fashion research project exploring the 'craft of use'

Open and Adjust

Garments can be reworked to meet changing needs. The knowledge and skills to open up a garment and adjust it to fit enrich and embolden society. They remind us about ingenuity and resourceful possibility and help replace consumption with action.

A genuine thing

“I have a dress I bought forty years ago. In those forty years I’ve changed a little or more. And then I have restored it so that I can use it today. And I just love it. It’s a really genuine thing.

It was a skirt with a blouse and then you have the waistband and as I’m too big I moved it above the bust and cut off the blouse and used it as a bolero.”
