Garments can be reworked to meet changing needs. The knowledge and skills to open up a garment and adjust it to fit enrich and embolden society. They remind us about ingenuity and resourceful possibility and help replace consumption with action.

Jacket to skirt

“This is a black leather skirt; originally it was a leather jacket that I bought at the Camden Lock in London. It was beautiful, I just loved it with white stitching and everything, it was like a sailor’s jacket. I wore it for like ten years and then it just started falling apart, all the seams just let go but the leather was so nice and I turned it into a skirt...”
