Alternative Dress Codes

The choices we make about what we wear are influenced by life present, lives past and our ideas about our future selves. Expressions of values, aspirations, heritage, understanding and the physical shape of our bodies build a rationale for dress that transcend narrow commercial views about fashion. Instead they give us broader perspectives that honour our reality as well as our aspirations; and connect our psyche with our fibre and fashion choices.

Strategy for old age

“This clothing decision is a strategy for dealing with old age. One of things that happens when you get older is your feet actually get long ‘cos your arch drops and so the shoes I’ve been wearing for years which I adore were suddenly too small. And so the problem became what to buy that I could wear that would be entirely comfortable so they’re these, alright? They do look like you’re a Ninja turtle because they’re very like, clumpy and foolish which my wife pointed out almost immediately but they’re called ‘Mion’ and they’re called that because they have a magical foam in the sole that during the first ten hours of wear forms itself to your foot only so they are my own shoes and when I bought them I knew that these were the shoes but for some reason the company went out of business so I immediately went to eBay and bought what I consider to be a lifetime’s supply - 4 pairs!”
